Fisheries/Reservoir Evaluation and Management

Reservoirs and reservoir fisheries can provide outstanding economic and recreational benefits to surrounding communities and regions. Fisheries management, prudent land use regulation, and protection of water quality are essential to insure that these benefits are maintained and enhanced. ECA employs experienced fisheries and water resource scientists who have worked with communities on both small and large impoundments. Our experienced scientists use a variety of assessment techniques including fish population, condition, and habitat evaluation, water quality monitoring, historical data review, and land use analysis. Data is collected and analyzed using field ground survey and topographic, aerial, and watershed base maps which are subjected to overlay and data analysis using GIS. The resulting information is provided to help communi ties determine short and long-term objectives, and to develop long-term adaptive management plans.
